Spell Cub

Help

Spell Cub turns a class’s weekly spelling list into practice, free for every child, in any browser.

Write to us

support@cubclimb.ca. A person reads every message. Tell us it’s about Spell Cub, send the class link if there is one, and say which phone or computer you use.

Sharing this week’s list

  1. Open Share this week’s words and paste or type the list.
  2. Check anything Spell Cub flags: it asks about every word it doesn’t know before the list goes out.
  3. Tap Share with the class, then post the link or the QR code in the class chat.

A teacher with the whole term’s lists can tap “I’m a teacher: paste the whole term” instead. Each week opens on its Monday, and the class link stays the same.

A word is wrong in a shared list

Write to us with the class link and the word, and we’ll fix it. Editing a list from the phone that made it is coming.

The sound doesn’t play

  • Check the phone isn’t on silent, and the volume is up. On an iPhone, the switch on the side mutes web pages too.
  • Tap the big play button: browsers only play sound after a tap.
  • A brand-new word can take a moment the first time anyone hears it. Spell Cub uses the device’s own voice until it’s ready.

Practising without the internet

Once a list has been opened, it and its words are saved for practice offline, in the same browser. Sharing a new list needs the internet.

Giving the test on the class screen

On the class page, choose “Teacher? Give the test on the class screen”. More in the teacher kit.

Taking a list down, or reporting one

Write to support@cubclimb.ca with the class link. If you made the list, we’ll take it down; if a list has something in it that shouldn’t be there, we’ll look at it the same day. A list with a word our filter refuses can’t be shared in the first place.

Privacy

Shared lists live on our server; everything about your child stays on their device. The privacy policy.
